There are so many curriculum topics to cover and skills to develop that homework is vital to success. All students must devote time to their homework. Students will be rewarded for work completed homework. We believe that work completed to the best of their ability in school and homework will enable all students to make the most of their talents.
Homework serves as a window through which you can observe your child’s education. As children grow older, homework and the amount of time engaged in homework, increases in importance. Good homework habits are worth an extra year’s progress to a student over 5 years at school.
Your support for homework is essential. Monitor your child’s homework to make sure it is completed. If your child is having difficulty with homework please contact their subject teacher. Knowing what your child is studying can help you to extend their learning.
How you can help your child
• Set aside a time each day for homework
• Make space available which is quiet.
• Make sure your child has the equipment available – pens, pencils, ruler, calculator
• Make sure the television is off so your child can concentrate. Music can help but the television
DOES NOT!
• If your child has a lot of homework, help them to plan and structure the time but do not do the
homework for them.
